The Center for Geographic Information Science and Health conducts research relating to how GIS, spatial statistics and remote sensing intersect health-related issues. The Center works with both government agencies and private businesses, implementing GIS solutions to spatial problems. The goal is to realize creative and new GIS applications which benefit public health.

Since the Center began in 2006, it has handled contracts relating to a wide variety of problems, including communications and public safety, medical patient mapping, site selection, and geodatabase creation and management.  Clients of the Center enjoy the benefit of access to the diversity of resources available through the geography department and the University.
